Introduction

Hello, and welcome to Anneleigh Ascended, a chronicle of one High Elf's experiences after the Shade of Telara.  In this introductory message I hope to set the stage of expectations.

Summary:  This blog is a creative writing project; a compiling of the Guardian Storyline from the MMORPG "Rift: Planes of Telara" from Trion.  Told in third-person narative, readers will come to know the story of the High Elves Journey through each entry.

The Setting:
  • The stories of Anneleigh are set in the world of Telara.  Telara is the world created for the popular MMORPG "Rift: Planes of Telara", from Trion.
  • The story this far:
    • Of all the worlds in the universe, only Telara was constructed entirely of source stone at an unprecedented nexus of the elemental planes. Elemental energies that come into contact with source stone become tangible, and Telara, so heavily influenced by every element, boasts incredible diversity and wealth.
    • Telara’s resources are capable of providing its people endless prosperity, if only they could share the wealth and keep the world safe from those who would plunder it. Though Telara always knew its share of strife, the Blood Storm and the rifts brought entire new plateaus of horror, leading to the edge of oblivion

  • A history of loss
    • Telara’s history is tumultuous to say the least. In ancient times, the dread gods of the Blood Storm used Telara’s proximity to planes to unleash elemental torments in hopes of plundering and destroying the world. Though they fell to infighting and were imprisoned, the Blood Storm’s creeping influence persisted through the ages, finally bearing fruit when a prince of the Mathosians did the will of Regulos, greatest of the reaver-gods.

    • The Ascended themselves are transplants from history, legends reborn to free Telara from the influence of the Blood Storm and the monsters of the planes. To assure victory in the future, wise heroes should study the past, to repeat the triumphs and avoid the tragedies of bygone ages.

The Character
  • Anneleigh is of the High Elf race; the oldest of all races on Telara.  She is affiliated with the Guardians.
  • As with others of her race, Anneleigh, before being called to war, lived a nomadic life, living off the land.  She is knowledgeable in foraging and has a working, but limited knowledge in mining and ore refining.
  • She is skilled with light weapons, daggers in particular, and has chosen to further her education in the art of Blade dancing.
  • In order to better her chances for survival she has opted to study weapon crafting.
This Project
  • Anneleigh Ascended will primarily be a third person account of Anneleigh's Journey after the Shade of Telara.
  • Often I will use summaries in a overview format to record the story as it progresses.
  • This is not a "How to Play" blog.  It more closely resembles a roleplay.  I do not role play fully while in game but my posts will take the form of roleplay as they detail her experiences in the world and progression through the story.
  • This is not a full account or database of each and every quest through the game.  There are many options available for those seeking quest text.  I chose to chronicle the quests that most closely relate to the storyline; telling the overall story and not focusing greatly on the courier quests that might be in the area.
  • Due to my solo style of game play, I am omitting dungeons and epic quest lines from my story lines... at least until I am able to complete them with minimal help.
Entries
  • I attend a full-time college course that keeps me busy during the week.  I hope to have new entries once a week, usually on weekends.  They may vary in length depending on the story I hope to tell in this particular episode.
  • Entries Marked EXTRA! are not original writing.  They are word for word text tranfers from either Riftgame.com or within the game itself.  I use these to illustrate the lore further and to expand the readers view of the world.  Not to mention, the writers do a fantastic job.
Thank you for your interest in following Anneleigh's Journey.
